I am originally from Des Moines Iowa … transplanted to the Houston Texas area - I’ve been down here since approximately 1989 though the first couple three years I kind of bounced back and forth between the two somewhat. My only daughter and only blood relative grandson [I have two step-grandsons and one step-granddaughter] live here in the Houston area so I am probably not going too far away from them … my only son lives in Iowa.

I paint in traditional watercolors and oil paints but I also paint digitally … computer painting is a lot of fun .. no fumes … no messy clean-up … when done, just upload to one of my Imagekind Galleries [click here to visit my Imagekind profile with links to my public galleries] and it is online for sale within moments of being a finished painting.

[In my day job I am a Technical Writer of Operating Manuals, User Guides, Labels, Instructions for Use, etc]

I have several blogs now … I changed over from hand-coded template websites to WordPress blogs for all my websites the end of 2007 … easy to update and not worry about coding - I can concentrate on writing and creating art, not programming coding.

My main website / blog, Barbara Burns, is personal journaling, art comments, Internet surfing links and whatever else I’ve written or has caught my interest over the last several years … 1994 - 2008 seems like a very long time on the Net when everything changes radically quicker than I can blink …;P

The first purchased domain I had was TX Dragon - for years upon years, it was my portfolio showcasing my variety of technical and creative skills: web design … graphic design … Flash [I am not current at all - animation is not my consuming interest or goal in my art career]. Sooner or later, I need to get all that material into a real presentation format and burnt on a CD for portable if I need it for interviewing [I have printed samples but now that I have a laptop ... I can do all kinds of things I couldn't before.]

Flying in the Wind …. not just kites but all sorts of things wind related - that easily includes hurricanes, tornado or cyclone wind storms and thunderboomers too since they are usually accompanied by a variety of wind speeds or that create those spinning wind vortexes that are so dangerous to life and property.

Watercolor Gift is about my adventures in Watercolors … Fantasy Art Gift - I am a reader of sci fi / fantasy and have been since dinosaurs roamed the Earth [this is a family insider joke from my daughter's teen years, not really dinosaurs but before color TV and computers were in nearly every home] - I am also a Gamer - I love video games though I do not have as much time to devote to them as I would like most of the time … I cannot accomplish other things when I am playing games …. Art Reviews by Barbara Burns - yes I am opinionated and willing to share it with the world … and being an artist … I write art reviews from my artist perspective ….. and last but certainly not least by any means … there is Dragonfly or Dragon Fly Theme …. dragonflies and dragons … did you know that a dragonfly is also referred to as a dragon?
