This summer has been full of changes, good and not so good - I bought a house, I lost my job, I need to decorate the house on a non-existant budget while looking for another job and I need to keep my spirits flying high.

Being an artist who generally keeps her personal art projects at the bottom of her priority list ... behind any day job priorities ... behind family priorities [today is the season's first football game for my grandson], I keep looking at one master bathroom wall and thinking ... that wall would look awesome with a

Sailboats are a passion for me in art - I love the romantic thought of being carefree and sailing away into the sea far away from the hectic daily grind of business and people/technology noise.

I love computers and being on the Net and I would probably have to take my computer with me just so I could still paint digitally even if I were to manage to sail away into a carefree sailing vagabond life.

The reality of sailing

As everyone now knows, Hurricane Dean did not arrive in Texas last week thankfully - it went south of us to Mexico. I haven't been to the beach in Galveston to find out if the tides and waves are calmer now so we again have calm seas but in decorating homes and offices with seascapes ... most generally want calm seas for viewing pleasure.

When decorating for a marine art theme - there are endless possibilities in objects and color schemes .... from mostly colorless seashells in a colorful basket for the bathroom tank top to massive Fine Art Prints for the living room to stenciled palm trees and surf scene for the windowless kitchen sink backsplash. Personally, I love stenciled scenes in my home - mine are small (some vines at the dining room window for example) and do not overpower the room or become the focal point - the stenciled designs are wall decoration accents and leave plenty of room for artwork to hang on the walls too. There are lots of choices of pre-cut stencil patterns and lots of stencil paint color choices. If you plan to do your own stenciling and / or cut your own stencils
