Create Whimsical Palm Trees {FREE EBOOK}

I started documenting this project last week but did not get it finished until today. I have been creating whimsical palm trees for several years now. They are very simple to create ... anyone can do it with pencil and paper ... why create a project sheet for them?

My reason is simple ... people tell me all the time that they just

Seascapes & Whimsical Palm Trees

Yesterday and today, I created two seascapes with one whimsical palm tree per painting ... both are going to be the "background image" for one of my seascape tea party graphics I have planned. I already have scanned a few of my faery mushroom ladies ... I have a few flowers ready to insert ... no tea cups, tea pots or Mad Hatter nor Cheshire Cat Grin yet ... yeppers ... as you can guess ... Alice in Wonderland and that magical tea party are what is inspiring this series of faery tea party at the seaside.

I think I am probably about 2-3 weeks

Seascapes and Laundry

 What do painting seascapes and doing laundry have in common?
First … for me … both are just as necessary in my life as breathing. Being from the landlocked Midwest … one would not expect me to have an affinity for seascapes and seascape painting … but rivers or lakes are just as fascinating to [...]

Square Art and Square Frames

I went to buy a new 12" x 12" square frame today - the one I had broke but the major reason is that I promised my daughter's Mother-in-Law a painting for her church ... event ... not sure what it will be called yet ... if she wanted to raffle one off to draw in more visitors. I need to create a painting that is pretty and nice to put in the frame to be raffled or something.

I got 2 really pretty ..................

Sketching and Planning with Watercolor Pencils and 90 lb Watercolor Paper

90 lb watercolor paper is just too thin for me to use for much painting ... I have a heavy touch with the water many times and I do not strech my paper so for actual painting, I generally use 140 lb cold press watercolor paper .. block or loose sheets in a pad.

BUT ... I do keep 90 lb in my studio ... for

Creating Color Charts

Every painting book I've ever read encourages us artist's to make color charts. I almost never make any ... never have ... probably never will ... BUT ... one exception to that is that I wanted to see how the ink colors looked on my watercolor paper using my Dr PH Martin's Bombay India Inks ... so tonite was the nite.

While I wait for the phone call from my daughter telling me how the championship
